Crochet Bunny Pattern: A Little Amigurumi Rabbit

Published October 9, 2026 · Updated October 9, 2026

This crochet bunny has long ears, a rounded head, and a small body with four little paws. A round tail completes the design, while embroidered eyes and a pink nose give it a gentle expression.

The pieces are crocheted separately and sewn together. Pinning them before assembly lets you adjust the ears and paws until you are happy with the bunny’s pose.

Pattern status: This is an untested draft. Stitch counts have been checked, but the proportions, assembly, finished measurements, and yarn usage need confirmation from a crocheted sample.

Materials

  • Ivory or light-beige DK cotton yarn
  • A small amount of black embroidery yarn for the eyes
  • Pink embroidery yarn for the nose
  • A 2.5–3 mm crochet hook as a starting point
  • Polyester fiberfill
  • Stitch marker
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Pins for positioning the pieces

Use a hook that produces firm stitches without gaps. The ears are made in the main color; this version does not include separate pink ear inserts.

Skill level: Beginner with experience working in rounds and sewing amigurumi pieces.
Construction: Separate head, body, ears, paws, and tail.
Finished size: To be confirmed after testing.

12(2 sc, dec) × 618
13(Sc, dec) × 612

Fasten off, leaving a long sewing tail. Leave the neck opening unclosed.

Before stuffing, embroider two small black eyes approximately between Rounds 7 and 8, leaving about 5 stitches between them across the front.

Add a small pink nose centered between the eyes, approximately one round lower. You can add a short vertical stitch beneath it for a simple mouth detail.

Secure the embroidery ends inside, then stuff the head evenly.

Body — Make One

The body begins at the bottom and finishes at the neck.

Using your main yarn:

RoundInstructionsCount
1Work 6 sc into an MR6

Fasten off, leaving a sewing tail. Stuff the body, keeping the bottom rounded and the neck opening unclosed.

Ears — Make Two

Using your main yarn:

RoundInstructionsCount

3(2 sc, inc) × 312
4–10Sc in every stitch for 7 rounds12
11(2 sc, dec) × 39
12(Sc, dec) × 36

Do not stuff.

Fasten off with a long tail. Flatten the opening so the 6 stitches form 3 pairs, then sew across those pairs. Keep the remaining tail for attaching the ear.

Arms — Make Two

Using your main yarn:

RoundInstructionsCount
1Work 6 sc into an MR6
2(Sc, inc) × 39
3–4Sc in every stitch for 2 rounds9
5(Sc, dec) × 36
6–8Sc in every stitch for 3 rounds6

Lightly stuff the rounded paw end. Leave the narrow upper section unstuffed.

Fasten off with a long tail. Flatten the opening and sew across the 3 pairs of stitches. Keep the remaining tail for attachment.

Feet — Make Two

Using your main yarn:

RoundInstructionsCount
1Work 6 sc into an MR6
2Inc in every stitch12
3–5Sc in every stitch for 3 rounds12
6(2 sc, dec) × 39
7(Sc, dec) × 36

Lightly stuff the wider foot end.

Fasten off with a long tail. Flatten the opening and sew across the 3 pairs of stitches. Keep the remaining tail for attachment.

Tail — Make One

Using your main yarn:

RoundInstructionsCount
1Work 6 sc into an MR6
2Inc in every stitch12
3Sc in every stitch12
4Dec × 66

Add a small amount of stuffing before the final round.

Fasten off with a long tail. Thread it through the front loops of the remaining stitches and pull closed. Keep the tail for sewing the piece onto the body.

Assemble the Bunny

Pin the pieces before sewing. Check the bunny from the front, sides, and back to make sure the placement looks balanced.

Join the Head and Body

Place the head’s 12-stitch neck opening against the body’s 12-stitch neck opening.

Align the face with the front of the body. Using one sewing tail, join the openings stitch by stitch around the neck.

Before completing the seam, add a little more stuffing if needed to support the head. Secure and weave in both neck tails.

Attach the Ears

Pin the flattened ear bases on either side of the top of the head, approximately across Rounds 2–4.

Leave a small gap between them. Position both ears upright or angle them slightly outward, then sew the bases securely to the head.

The unstuffed ears may bend naturally; their final position depends on yarn and tension.

Attach the Arms

Place one arm on each side of the upper body, just below the neck, approximately across Body Rounds 10–11.

Angle the paws slightly forward. Sew the flattened upper ends securely to the body.

Attach the Feet

Position the feet on the lower front of the body, approximately across Body Rounds 3–5.

Point the wider ends forward and leave a small gap between them. Check the seated pose before sewing.

Attach the Tail

Center the round tail on the lower back, approximately across Body Rounds 4–6.

Sew it securely around its base and weave in the remaining yarn ends.

These placements are starting points for the test sample. Adjust the pinned pieces to suit their actual proportions.

Tips for a Neat Finish

  • Keep the ears unstuffed. This lets them flatten and bend.
  • Check the face before filling the head. Embroidery is easier to secure while the opening is accessible.
  • Support the neck. Uneven or insufficient filling can make the head lean.
  • Match the paw placement. Compare both sides before sewing.
  • Avoid tight embroidery. Pulling too firmly can dent the face.

Color Variations

Ivory gives the bunny a simple, soft appearance. Light gray, oatmeal, or pale brown offer natural-looking alternatives, while lavender or blush pink create a pastel version.

Keep the yarn weight consistent across all pieces when making the first sample. Different thicknesses can affect how the head, body, and limbs fit together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a no-sew crochet bunny?

No. The head, ears, arms, feet, and tail are sewn onto the body.

Does it have pink inner ears?

No. The ears use only the main yarn. Pink inserts would require additional instructions and testing.

Can I use plush yarn?

Try smooth yarn for the first sample. Plush yarn changes the proportions and makes small stitches harder to identify.

Will the bunny sit upright?

That needs checking on the physical sample. Adjust the feet and tail while they are pinned, before completing the seams.

How big is the finished bunny?

The size has not yet been confirmed. Measure the completed sample from the bottom of the body to the ear tips before adding dimensions to the post.

Finish Your Crochet Bunny

Check that every piece is securely attached, smooth the stuffing with your fingers, and hide the remaining yarn ends.
